By looking at a number of seemingly small details we can minimize your fuel consumption; helping you squeeze every possible penny out of each tank of fuel. Each vehicle and situation is different. However, the GREENTUNE process could save up to 20 cents per gallon of fuel.

AirFILTER

Replacing your air filter can improve your vehicle’s gas mileage by as much as 10%. A dirty air filter restricts air flow to your engine tricking your on-board computer to force more fuel into the engine to compensate for low air flow.

TirePRESSURE

Next to air filters, tire pressure is one the most commonly ignored causes of poor Miles Per Gallon. You can improve your gas mileage by approximately 3.3% by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure. Under-inflated tires lower gas mileage by .04% for every 1lb drop in pressure of all four tires. Properly inflated tires last longer, save money, are better for our environment, and are safer.

Tune-UP

Fixing an engine that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an emissions test can improve gas mileage by 4%. Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as faulty oxygen sensors, can improve your gas mileage by up to 40%.

AlignMENT

Alignments are critical to the life of your tires and fuel savings. If your vehicle is not aligned properly your fuel economy can be reduced by 10%. Misaligned tires cause drag which causes friction. This friction will reduce your gas mileage.

Use the recommended grade of motor oil.

You can improve your gas mileage by approximately 1-2% by using the manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. Also, look for motor oil that says “Energy Conserving” on the API performance symbol to be sure it contains friction-reducing additives. It is also a good idea to use high mileage oil for vehicles over 75,000 miles. And full synthetic oil is great for any vehicle.

Premium vs. Regular Grade Gasoline

The recommended gasoline for most cars is regular unleaded. Using a higher-octane gasoline than recommended by the owner’s manual does not improve performance or fuel efficiency; it only costs more money. Check your owner’s manual to determine the lowest grade of fuel you can use.
